Terms of service
As Advertised — Terms of Service
27 Sept 2026
Welcome to As Advertised. "We", "us" and "our" refer to As Advertised. As Advertised sells original, physical vintage print advertisement tearsheets — genuine pages removed from period magazines and periodicals, principally covering audio, technology and computing advertising — through this online store (the "Services"). As Advertised is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. As Advertised is a trading name of Tack Studio Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13984648).
These Terms of Service, together with any policies referenced in them (these "Terms"), describe your rights and responsibilities when you use the Services. Please read them carefully — they cover warranty disclaimers and limits on liability.
By visiting, browsing or using the Services you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Services.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the law of England and Wales, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Where anything in these Terms conflicts with those statutory rights, your statutory rights take priority.
1. Access and Account
Placing an order is a binding contract, so if you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to go ahead.
To place an order you may be asked for information such as your email address, billing, payment and shipping details. You confirm that all information you provide is correct, current and complete.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity on your account. You may not transfer, sell or license your account to anyone else.
2. Our Products
Every item we sell is an original, physical page (or pages) removed from a vintage magazine or periodical, not a reproduction, reprint or facsimile.
We only list pages of reasonable, collectible quality, but we don't grade or write a condition report for each individual listing. Normal signs of age should be expected across our stock — toning, foxing, faint creasing, trimmed edges, small tears or pin-holes from original binding — and these are not defects. The product images are high-quality scans of the item you'll receive, though colour and texture may appear slightly different on your screen than in person.
We reserve the right to correct listing errors, update descriptions, limit quantities, or discontinue a listing at any time. Where stock is one-of-a-kind, an order may occasionally be cancelled if the physical item sold out or was withdrawn before your order was confirmed — see Section 3.
Because our stock is drawn from historical print media, some carry imagery, language, product claims or attitudes reflecting the period in which they were published, which would not be considered acceptable today. We sell these items as historical artefacts, for their documentary, design or nostalgic interest — listing or selling an item is not an endorsement of its content, and does not mean we agree with anything it depicts or claims.
3. Orders
Placing an order is an offer to purchase, which we may accept or decline at our discretion — for example if a one-of-a-kind item was sold elsewhere, mislisted, or priced in error. An order is not accepted until we confirm it, and we must receive your payment before an order is accepted. If we cannot fulfil an order after accepting it, we will notify you and refund any payment taken in full.
Please check your order carefully before submitting it, as we may be unable to accommodate cancellation requests once an item has been dispatched. Your right to cancel a confirmed order is set out in Section 6.
You confirm that your purchases are for your own personal use and not for commercial resale, unless you have told us otherwise and we have agreed.
4. Prices and Billing
All prices are shown in GBP (£) unless stated otherwise. We are not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to the prices shown. Prices, discounts and promotions may change at any time without notice; the price charged is the price shown at the time your order is placed, as confirmed in your order confirmation email. Shipping charges are additional unless stated at checkout.
You agree to provide accurate, current payment and billing information for every order, and to promptly update it if it changes. You confirm that any payment method you use is yours to use and that the charges you incur will be honoured by your card issuer or payment provider.
5. Shipping and Delivery
We currently ship within the UK only. Because our stock is original vintage paper, we package each item to protect it in transit; please raise any transit damage with us within 48 hours of delivery, with photos, so we can help.
Delivery times shown at checkout are estimates only and are not guaranteed. We are not responsible for delays caused by couriers or events outside our reasonable control.
Risk in the item passes to you once it is delivered to the address you provided; for consumers, this does not affect your right to a repair, replacement or refund if the item does not match its description or arrives faulty.
6. Returns and Cancellation
If you are a consumer buying from within the UK or EU, you have a legal right to cancel your order under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. This right applies for 14 days from the day you (or someone you nominate) receives the item, for any reason and without needing to give one.
To cancel, tell us clearly — by email is fine — before the 14 days are up. You then have a further 14 days to send the item back to us, at your own cost unless it arrived faulty or not as described. We will refund the price you paid, including standard delivery charges, within 14 days of receiving the item back (or of you providing evidence you've sent it).
Because our stock is original and typically one of a kind, please handle only as needed to inspect it before deciding to keep it. If it comes back to us in a different, worse condition than it was sent because it was handled beyond what was reasonably necessary, we may deduct an amount reflecting that loss of value from your refund.
Separately from the above, all goods we sell must match their description and be of satisfactory quality, taking into account their age. If an item is faulty, significantly not as described, or damaged in transit, you have the right to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015; contact us and we will put it right.
This section does not limit or replace your other statutory rights as a UK consumer.
7. Intellectual Property
Selling you the physical page transfers ownership of that physical object to you; it does not transfer, license or assign any copyright, trade mark or other intellectual property rights in the advertisement, brand, imagery or text it carries, which (where still in force) remain with the original brand, publisher, photographer or other rights holder. You buy the item as a collectible and for personal display; these Terms do not grant you any right to reproduce, republish, or commercially exploit the advertisement itself.
Our own website content — including our store name, logo, product descriptions, photographs of items, and the design and layout of the Services — is owned by As Advertised or our licensors and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may use the Services for personal, non-commercial browsing and purchasing only, and must not reproduce, copy, scrape or republish our photographs or written content without our prior written consent.
Shopify's own name, logo and trade marks belong to Shopify. All other names, logos and trade marks appearing on the Services belong to their respective owners.
8. Optional Tools
We may give you access to tools provided by third parties (for example payment or shipment-tracking tools) that we do not control or monitor. These are provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty from us, and your use of them is at your own risk — please check the relevant third party's own terms before relying on them.
9. Third-Party Links
The Services may link to websites run by third parties. We do not examine or vouch for their content, accuracy or practices, and are not liable for any harm arising from your use of them. If you leave our Services to visit a third-party site, you do so at your own risk, and any dispute about a third party's products or services should be taken up with that third party.
10. Relationship with Shopify
As Advertised is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services. Any purchase you make is made directly with As Advertised, not with Shopify. Shopify is not responsible for any aspect of the sale between you and As Advertised, including loss or damage arising from products you buy, and you release Shopify and its affiliates from claims relating to your purchases and transactions with us.
11. Privacy Policy
Any personal information we collect through the Services is handled in line with our Privacy Policy, and Shopify processes certain personal data as our platform provider under its own Privacy Policy. By using the Services you acknowledge you have read both. We handle your personal data in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR.
12. Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions or reviews ("Feedback"), you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce and publish that Feedback for any purpose, including improving or promoting the Services. We're under no obligation to keep Feedback confidential, pay for it, or respond to it, and may remove Feedback we consider unlawful or otherwise objectionable. You confirm your Feedback is yours to give, doesn't infringe anyone else's rights, and is accurate.
13. Errors, Inaccuracies and Omissions
Occasionally the Services may contain typographical errors or inaccuracies relating to descriptions, pricing or availability. We may correct these, or cancel an affected order, at any time without prior notice, including after you've placed it — in which case we'll notify you and refund any payment taken.
14. Prohibited Uses
You may use the Services for lawful purposes only. You must not: use the Services unlawfully or maliciously; infringe our intellectual property rights or anyone else's; harass, abuse or defame anyone; transmit false or misleading information; send spam, chain letters or unsolicited advertising; impersonate any person or entity; upload viruses or malicious code; scrape, mine or systematically extract data from the Services; collect or track other people's personal information; or bypass or interfere with our security measures. We may suspend or terminate your account, without notice, if we believe you've broken these rules.
15. Automated Access and Agents
This section applies if you use or deploy an "Agent" — software that takes autonomous or semi-autonomous action on your behalf, such as an AI shopping assistant or bot — to access or interact with the Services.
An Agent may only access the Services if it: identifies itself as an Agent in the user-agent string of every request ("Agent/[agent name]"); does not mimic human behaviour or attempt to bypass CAPTCHAs or similar checks; answers truthfully if asked whether it is a human or a computer; and does not circumvent any measure we use to control how Agents access the Services. We may block or restrict Agent access at any time, including for an Agent we've asked to stop.
16. Termination
We may end this agreement or your access to the Services at our discretion, without notice, if you breach these Terms; you remain liable for any amounts due up to termination. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Intellectual Property, Feedback, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law — continue to apply.
17. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Services and any general information on them are provided for general information purposes, and, to the fullest extent permitted by law, without warranties of any kind beyond those set out in these Terms or that cannot be excluded under UK consumer law. We don't guarantee that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits our responsibility for the tearsheets themselves matching their description and being of satisfactory quality, or any other right you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which is dealt with in Section 6.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable to you for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, business, or data, arising from your use of the Services.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude — including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for goods that don't match their description, aren't of satisfactory quality, or aren't fit for purpose.
19. Indemnification
You agree to reimburse us for any losses, damages or reasonable costs we incur because of your breach of these Terms, or your misuse of the Services, except to the extent caused by our own breach or negligence.
20. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unlawful, void or unenforceable, that part will be treated as removed, and the rest of these Terms will continue to apply.
21. Waiver; Entire Agreement
If we don't enforce a right or provision in these Terms on one occasion, that doesn't waive our ability to enforce it later.
These Terms, together with any policies we post on the Services (such as our Privacy Policy), form the entire agreement between you and us about your use of the Services, replacing any earlier agreements or understandings on that subject.
22. Assignment
You may not transfer or assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer or assign our rights and obligations under these Terms at any time, for example if the business is sold or restructured; this won't affect your statutory consumer rights.
23. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you can also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK you live in. We both agree that the courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction, save where mandatory local consumer protection law gives you the right to use another jurisdiction's courts.
24. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time; the current version will always be posted on the Services. If we make a material change, we'll take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; a change won't affect an order you placed before it took effect.
25. Contact Us
Questions, complaints or Feedback about these Terms or the Services should be sent to us at ad@tackstudio.co, and we'll get back to you.
